Is Your Love Growing Cold?
Do you ever wonder what is going on with our world? It seems things have turned upside down – what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right? To see proof of this just turn on the news. Although even that has become so distorted from the truth. To understand this we are drawn to Matthew 24. In one of the last conversations Jesus had with his disciples before His death on the cross, He told them not to be misled. He told them not to be frightened. Jesus told them that there would be wars, famines and earthquakes. He said that people would deliver us to tribulation, they would kill us and we would be hated because of Jesus.
Verse 12 reads, “And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.” In this verse “people” refers to those who love God. The love referred to is the agape love of God given to us by the Holy Spirit. The only way for this love to grow cold is for us to drift from the Lord. Let us be vigilant to spend time with our Lord, to read His Word, and to be obedient to Him. If we stay close to God our love will not grow cold. Verse 13 goes on to say, “But the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved.” Dearest friends let us endure to the end, let us be obedient to the call of the Lord upon our lives. Let our love never grow cold.
We thank you and pray for you daily. May you rest in the peace of the Lord.
