Christmas Celebration 2013

Celebrating the Birth of our Lord

On Sunday, December 15, 2013, StreetLight Mission welcomed five hundred men, women and children struggling from poverty, mental illness and hopelessness to the historic Winfield Scott Ballroom in Elizabeth, New Jersey to celebrate Christmas. StreetLight Mission’s event Co-chairs Theresa Christopher and Peggy Henderson led a team of one hundred and fifty energetic volunteers who served guests with the love of Jesus.

Mr. Angel Franco served as head chef and a team of volunteers from Calvary Tabernacle prepared a delicious four-course meal of salad, pasta, chicken and vegetables, and dessert.  Food was donated by Evangel Church of Scotch Plains. Each table was laid with seasonal linens and decorated with fresh flower arrangements donated by the Cranford Garden Club.

Guests enjoyed having their picture taken in vintage photo booths. Each child received an activity bag filled with Christmas activities for them to enjoy. Music and drama teams from Yonai Adi Ministries and Morning Star Church entertained guests. The evening concluded with a carol sing led by Sheldon Edmond.  Upon leaving each child received a Christmas gift.

Diane shared in a thank you note to us, “ Thank you so much StreetLight Mission, you have helped us through good and bad times and you have given us a lot of hope and help. So from our family to yours we wish you a Merry Christmas and finally a Happy New Year. “ Ilene wrote “Thank you very much! Without you this wouldn’t be a perfect Christmas. I cannot tell you how happy and amazing I feel.”

StreetLight Mission would especially like to thank our Table Sponsors and our Event Sponsors. Our Gold Sponsor was Brinton Auto Body. Our Silver Sponsor was Evangel Church. Our Bronze Sponsors were PSEG, Hehl & Hehl, Copalan Construction, and Sarino Tropeano & Susan Quilty.
