It’s time to enlarge our territory!
For many years we have been serving those in need from a rented property located at 1181 East Broad Street. We have utilized this 2,500 square foot building to the maximum. We have rented three storage units and moved our Finance and Administration and Fund Raising functions to a home to maximize the space at the Mission to serve those who come to us in need of help.
Through an extremely generous gift from Evangel Church we were able to purchase and begin renovations on a convent that was been abandoned for many years. This new building is located a few blocks from our current location at 424 Westminster Avenue, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. It is also a block from the Elizabeth Social Services office. This building is in a difficult area of town that is plagued by problems of substance abuse and crime. Just as we see the potential of the countless people who come to us in need, we also see this building as a catalyst for community change.
This new property will allow us to expand the work we are already doing providing a commercial kitchen where we can prepare and serve food on-site, more bathrooms and showers, 4 classrooms for life skills training, and living quarters for 8 resident interns. This building will serve as home base as we expand our efforts to restore lives, families and communities through programs of education, recovery and employment.
Restoration of the property has already begun and will progress through the generosity of donors like you. We will be publishing more information on our upcoming Capital Campaign in the near future. We hope you join us in building a larger facility to expand our services to those in need. If you would like to volunteer please fill out the Individual Application or Group Application. Please note on the application that you would like to help on the construction efforts for the new building.
